Great Performances, New York City’s most exciting events catering company, known industry wide for passion and devotion to the arts, creative culinary design and providing outstanding service for over 30 years is seeking Design Interns for Summer 2011.
We will need (2) design interns interested in learning about design as it relates to food presentation for events catering.
Responsibilities: Interns will work closely with Design Directors on design projects that relate to product design for food presentation, décor for passing trays, buffet station layout and decor, fabrication of food display elements, café layout and décor, graphic design (ie. menu design and buffet signage) and on-site design execution.
We are looking for (1) intern with skills in Styling and Décor design and (1) intern with skills in Product Design and Model Making.
Skills (STYLE & DECOR DESIGN Intern):
-Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are a must.
-Comfort and ease using an X-acto knife.
-A good eye for style, color, form, shape, texture, line, and space.
Skills (PRODUCT DESIGN Intern):
-Interest and passion for sustainable food and design
-Ability to hand sketch concepts quickly and clearly
-Ability to think critically about 3D space relationships in conjunction with food presentation and functionality of space
-Interest in researching and sourcing new materials as they relate to food presentation and functionality
-Strong model making skills including some light woodworking and fabrication techniques, must be comfortable using an X-acto knife
-Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, a must
-A good eye for style, color, form, shape, texture, line, and 2D and 3D spatial relationships
Interns should be responsible, reliable, outgoing, organized, and interested in learning about food design and have an interest in conceptualizing and implementing innovative food presentation techniques. Interns must be able to commit a minimum of 20-25 hours per week. Ideal candidates will come from a design program. Students coming from a culinary background with an understanding of design and product fabrication are encouraged to apply. INTERNS MUST BE ABLE TO RECEIVE SCHOOL CREDIT FOR THIS INTERNSHIP.

The ideal candidate resides within 20 miles of NYC and will travel throughout the area regularly. Compensation will be provided according to experience and will include reimbursement for travel expenses (public transit, etc.) and phone.

•Organic/natural food or beverage experience a definite plus
•Must be organized and a self-starter
•Ability to clearly communicate (written & oral) with a variety of people from large retail store managers to customers at events.
•Ability to attract a wide-variety of people to the Purity Organic brand via an engaging personality
•Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
•Reliable access to a vehicle and clean drivers license.
Not required, but a plus:
•Experience working at events, in-store demos, sales, and/or merchandizing

Entrepreneur Internship - Work with 125+ LA-based Entrepreneurs (Wilshire / Western, United States)
The Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) is looking for a new interns to work with our Board of Directors and member companies. Some of the most influential small business leaders in Los Angeles.
EO is an international organization with 7,300 business owners as members, around the globe. Here in LA, we represent over 125 members (defined as entrepreneurs with over $1MM in revenue) from a large variety of industries. We have a number of amazing events planned for the 2010 year that span from educational sessions (many lead by CEOs of the nation's leading companies) and social events. Just recently we had Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos) and Howard Schultz (CEO of Starbucks) come speak at two diffeernt dinner events!

Hours are flexible, but only serious inquiries should apply. Expect to commit AT LEAST 20 hours a week (more is available). This is a part time, unpaid internship for 3-4 months (can be extended, if interested). Although there is no financial compensation other than school credit... you will get exposure to over 125 member organizations and heavily interact with the business community in/around Los Angeles. Hi, Water to Thrive is a faith-based, non-profit focused on providing sustainable access to clean, safe water for communities in rural Africa that struggle everyday for a safe drink of water. W2T has chosen to work specifically on the issue of clean water because it is the most basic need for our physical and spiritual well-being
